[Manny Fraser] The #1 Bench Press Mistake You’re Making That Will RUIN Your Progress

5 weeks out from WRPF Nationals, and the bar is fighting back. Today’s focus: Sling Shot bench overloads at 97% (330lbs) — pushing the limits to build power, confidence, and control under near-max load. Every rep at this stage is about precision under pressure, sharpening technique and reinforcing belief in your own strength.

This is the phase where every lift matters. Nationals isn’t the goal — it’s the test of all the hard work leading up to it. The goal is mastery: mastering form, mindset, and intensity. When the weight gets heavy, staying composed becomes the difference between success and failure.

🔥 Workout Breakdown:
• Warm-Up: 45×10, 135×5, 185×3, 225×2, 330×1
• Working Sets: 4×2 @97% (Sling Shot Bench Press)
• DB Rows: 3×10
• Pull-Ups: 3×8
• Rear Delt Flys: 3×12
• DB Curls: 3×10

At 5 weeks out, training isn’t about chasing PRs. It’s about dialing in performance, refining bar path, and learning how to stay calm under pressure. The Sling Shot allows me to overload safely while reinforcing confidence under near-max weights — a critical part of powerlifting meet prep.

The closer competition gets, the more I rely on discipline, not motivation. You can’t fake strength when the bar feels this heavy. You can only earn it through months of hard, consistent work.

💭 Mindset Reminder:
Strength isn’t built overnight. It’s forged in the quiet moments — the early mornings, the long nights, and the endless sets where no one’s watching. The barbell doesn’t care about feelings; it rewards consistency, focus, and effort.

This journey to Nationals isn’t just about numbers — it’s about transformation. The process teaches patience, humility, and self-belief. That’s what powerlifting is: controlled aggression, disciplined effort, and relentless commitment.

💪 If you’re chasing your next big lift:

Push through discomfort

Trust the process

Respect the load

And never lose sight of the mission

Find the energy and motivation you need at the gym to achieve powerlifting success. Through hard work and the right mindset, nothing can stop you from reaching your goals. Get inspired and push your limits!
