Mastering these two advanced side planks is a really fun way to level up your yoga practice. They help us open the hips deeply, increase balance and core stability, and allow us to flow through a wider variety of sequences– particularly for mandala-style practices.
I often put Vashistasana II into my intermediate classes, and usually reserve Visvamitrasana for advanced classes. But in those higher level classes, I give a lot less instruction… which is why I made this advanced side plank tutorial– so you can add them to your own sequences, and also be able to show up better prepared for mine 😁
