This is how you perform the wide grip lat pulldown.

Sit down and secure your thighs under the pad.
Grab the bar with a wide, overhand grip—just outside shoulder width.
Start from a dead hang position and let your lats fully stretch at the top.
Pull the bar down in a straight line to your upper chest, driving your elbows down and back.
Avoid leaning too far back or using momentum—stay controlled.
Squeeze your lats hard at the bottom, then slowly return to the top for a full stretch.

This movement targets the upper lats and helps build a wider back with emphasis on the stretch and controlled contraction.
